Hidden Bench Estate Winery is a premium, artisanal, family-owned winegrower founded in 2003 that produces ProCert certified organic and vegan friendly wines exclusively from our estate vineyards on the Beamsville Bench. Recognized domestically and internationally for the consistent quality of our award-winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling, we craft a full portfolio of low intervention, quality focused, and terroir driven wines with nuanced attention to detail and precision from vineyard to glass. Named 2023 Canadian Winery of the Year, we are currently recruiting a part time bookkeeper to augment our team.
Overview:
As the sole accounting staff for our small premium winery you would be responsible for executing and maintaining the company accounting records and reporting and assisting with the administrative and back-office functions of the business. This role requires the accurate execution and coordination of accounting, back-office business operations and reporting that support the overall business objectives of the winery. The position is highly cross-functional, collaborating with both internal teams, external partners and ownership to ensure reporting compliance, performance tracking, and strategic financial management in support of the success of the organization. Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Administration
-Accounts payable and receivable processing / follow up
-Bi-weekly payroll processing and remittances (DAS)
-Banking and banking reconciliation
-Cashflow management
-Weekly/monthly sales tracking and reporting
-Monthly Government Reporting and remittances including LCBO/J10, Wine tax, Excise and Quarterly HST etc.
Financial Planning & Analys:
-Assistance with Budgeting and forecasting
-Financial analysis and performance reporting
-Government support program administration and applications
-Interface with accountant and manage yearend financial consolidation (e.g., MNP)
Inventory
-Inventory control and planning
-Purchasing Order Management and processing
Ideal Qualifications & Characteristics:
-Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills and experience with QuickBooks and Excel is a requirement for this position
-Meticulous attention to detail and high organizational skill
-Ability to work 2-3 days weekly
-Proactive problem-solver who enjoys building efficient systems
-Experience in small business operations, ideally in wine, beverage, or hospitality
-Confident communicator and collaborator who can balance independence with team alignment
-Comfortable with financial software, inventory systems, and general IT troubleshooting
Expected Salary Range: $33.00 - $38.00 / hour, 18 to 24 hours per week.
