Blomidon Estate Winery is a small boutique winery, nestled on the shore of the Minas Basin, in Canning, Nova Scotia, Canada. We are committed to producing 100% Nova Scotia grown grapes and wines and are proud to have won numerous national and international awards and acclaim for our efforts.
We are looking for a Winery and Vineyard Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will have an interest in cool-climate wines (particularly in Traditional Method Sparkling wines) and be willing to work in all aspects of our business. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual, who wants to make meaningful contributions to the success of the winery.
We are ideally loolking to fill a full-time, year-round position, but will consider applicants just for the 2024 harvest. The Winery and Vineyard Assistant will report to the Winemaker/Operations Manager and the Vineyard Manager.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Assisting the Vineyard Manager with pruning, tying, trellis work, and other seasonal tasks;
Work with the Winemaker to assist in winemaking, bottling, disgorging, cellar tasks, cleaning and organization, etc;
Work with the winemaker on all harvest preparation activities, such as vineyard sampling, laboratory work, cellar preparation, fermentation management, pressing, cleaning, wine racking, etc;
Assist with labelling and packaging, prepare orders in for shipping, and maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness;
Participate in the Retail Shop activities, attend industry events, and host offsite tastings, if, and when, required.
Skills and qualifications:
A degree or diploma in Winemaking and Viticulture;
Harvest experience an asset;
A strong work ethic and commitment to quality, and the ability to work both in a team as well as independently and proactively;
Forklift license and tractor experience an asset;
A valid driver’s license;
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work a flexible schedule;
Must be able to legally work in Canada.
