Megalomaniac Wines in Vineland, Ontario is a medium sized winery on the Bench of the Niagara Escarpment producing largely estate grown Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the 135 acres we farm. We are hiring for a Cellar Hand to be part of the winemaking team, reporting to the Assistant Winemaker.

 

Work responsibilities:

·      Press operation.

·      Tank rackings and movements.

·      Fermentation inoculations and additions.

·      Barrel operations, racking, filling and topping.

·      Tank and barrel sampling.

·      Pumpovers and punchdowns.

·      Sorting line assistance.

·      Cleaning and sanitation in all areas (facility and equipment).

·      Vineyard site visits and sampling.

·      Vineyard work.

·      Other duties as assigned by Winemaking staff.

 

Qualifications:

·      Must be eligible to work in Canada.

·      1 year cellar hand experience. 

·      Able to lift 22 kg / 50 lbs.

·      Able to walk, kneel and bend for long periods of time.

·      May be exposed to hot, cold, and noisy environments.

·      Willing and able to work extended hours during the harvest and bottling days.

·      Ability to work safely.

·      Able to climb stairs and walk across uneven surfaces.

·      Must be willing to learn/possess forklift certification.

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Full time opportunities may also be available.
