Job Description:
As the Vineyard Supervisor/Tractor Operator, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our 15 acres of vineyards on the Naramata Bench. This is a 6-month contract, with the potential of extending to a permanent position for the right candidate. Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating and maintaining vineyard equipment, including tractors, implements, trucks/trailers, ATVs, and hand tools
- Scheduling work and overseeing vineyard operations
- Irrigation, weed and pest control, nutrient application, and canopy management
- Keeping accurate records of vineyard tasks, inputs, and timesheets
- Maintaining and repairing infrastructure, such as trellises, irrigation systems, and fencing
- Supporting other farm operations as needed, including sheep management and orchard operations
- Assisting in the cellar and bottling line as required
- Maintaining landscaping and ensuring a tidy, presentable operation
Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual with a passion for organic viticulture. The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years experience with organic viticulture practices
- 3+ years experience operating tractors in a variety of vineyards
- Ability to work flexible hours during peak season
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to perform sustained physical tasks outdoors in all weather conditions
- Forklift operator's permit, Pesticide Applicator Certification
- Experience driving a trailer
- Mechanical aptitude
- Eligibility to work in Canada
