Sunocean Wineries and Estates Inc. DBA Church & State Wines operates two unique vineyard properties in the Okanagan and on Vancouver Island. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Wine Shop Manager to oversee our Oliver Tasting Room and manage all aspects of on-site sales, wine clubs, business administration, staffing, property management, and licensing requirements.
Job Description:
As the Wine Shop Manager, you will be responsible for:

Leadership and Staff Management: Provide effective leadership, support, and motivation to the tasting room team to ensure the highest standards of hospitality, professionalism, and customer service.

Sales and Member Engagement: Host tastings with a focus on driving wine sales, enhancing guest experiences, and converting visitors into club members. Maintain the tasting room's 5-star cleanliness and appearance.

Guest Experience: Create memorable experiences for guests by greeting and hosting in the tasting room and conducting informative winery tours.

Scheduling and Staffing: Manage the tasting room’s schedule, including appointment bookings and staff time sheets. Conduct daily staff briefings, onboard and train new employees, ensure adherence to training manuals, and schedule breaks.

Inventory Management: Oversee the ordering, restocking, and monitoring of tasting room inventory, including wine, provisions, and promotional materials. Report any deficiencies to the Operations Manager.

Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) Sales and Shipping: Assist with DTC shipping and fulfillment needs, including packaging shipments, payment processing, and other tasks as assigned.

Industry Networking: Build and maintain relationships with industry partners to enhance brand presence in the South Okanagan market.

Point of Sale and Appointment Systems: Operate POS and appointment booking systems (Lightspeed, Tock, Commerce 7) to ensure smooth and efficient transactions.

Cash Management: Implement and manage cash handling procedures in accordance with company policies.

Wine Club Development: Drive the growth of wine club membership, respond to club-related inquiries, and ensure accurate communication regarding club membership, including payment, shipping dates, and membership benefits.
Salary & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 per year based on experience
- Bonus Structure: Additional performance-based bonuses focused on membership growth and sales targets.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in wine sales, marketing, or wine club management, particularly in DTC sales.
- WSET Level 2 or higher certification.
- Availability to work during peak times, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to manage various tasks and projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- A self-starter, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency with computer programs and systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills, including goal setting, project management, and the ability to see tasks through to completion.
