A new urban winery is opening its doors in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, dedicated to producing high-quality wines crafted from exceptional Canadian and international vineyards. In 2024, we will produce our inaugural vintage, with a vision to bring outstanding locally made wines to the heart of Saskatoon.
We are looing for an open minded, energetic and hands on harvest cellar hand responsible for winemaking assistance during our first harvest season. We anticipate the harvest period will last from September 20th – Until November 20th, with the possibility of extending for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Setting up, cleaning and sterilizing tanks and winery equipment
- Operation of forklift for processing grapes, juice and wine
- General cellar duties: racking, inoculations and additions to juice and wine
- Transferring volumes of juice and wine using pumps, hoses and clamps
- Fermentation management such as pump overs and punch downs
- Accurately record data and follow standard operating procedures under the guidance of the owners
- Barrel work; including filling, topping, emptying and cleaning
- Basic Lab analysis.
- Basic understanding of winemaking equipment such as pumps, presses, forklifts, etc.
- Report directly to Owner and Consulting Winemaker
Qualifications:
- 1 year experience as a cellar hand in winery setting is an asset. Will consider those with experience in similar backgrounds (e.g. brewing, food manufacturing)
- Driver’s license required â–ª Forklift certification is preferred
- Mechanical aptitude a definite asset
- Ability to multitask, work well independently
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
- Willing to work extended hours or extra days during harvest if needed
- Strong communication skills, positive attitude, attention to detail
- Must be eligible to work in Canada

Schedule:
- Day shift
- 35-40 hours per week
- Flexibility for occasional work on weekends as needed
- Employment duration of 8 weeks with possibility to extend
Competitive rates to be negotiated based on experience. Housing Allowance to be discussed.
