Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery was established with our first vintage in 1988. At that time we were one of a very few estate wineries dedicated to producing premium quality wines made from 100% Ontario grown grapes. Today, Henry of Pelham is a 200K+ case producer in Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula. We work with numerous grape varieties to produce a diverse portfolio of wines.
JOB SUMMARY
Operate and Manage packaging and bottling of all products, with an active role in crush pad (harvest) operations.
WORK RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: VP Winemaking and Production
Works with: Winemaking Team, Lab Technicians, Shipping Receiving, Cellar Technicians and Maintenance Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills
· Able to work in a fast paced environment
· Detail Oriented, hardworking and enthusiastic
· Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and team oriented
· Good organizational, listening and problem solving skills
· Minimum of five years’ experience operating packaging equipment
· Minimum of five years’ team management experience
· Excellent people management
· Detailed understanding of Quality Control flow
· Experience in sterilization of alcoholic beverages production equipment
· Winery experience is a plus
Education
· Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
General Duties
· Operate and Manage both manual and automated case de-palletizers, bottle filler, case packers/stackers, labellers and closure equipment
· Ensure and manage preventive maintenance, trouble shooting and reporting of operational issues of the machinery
· Ensure the proper storage, organization, cleaning and routine upkeep of equipment, material and work tools
· Ensure diligent cleanliness and safety of the equipment and the work environment, in accordance with the safety and cleanliness standards;
· Work within the safety, sanitation and quality control standards and procedures of our company and from the industry while ensuring daily production
· Operate and Manage all component specification validation, ordering, inventory levels and storage
· Operate and Manage bottling line employee schedules, operational training, payroll and health/safety
· Train and pass on your technical knowledge and skills in automated bottling of alcoholic beverages to bottling line operators
· Operate automated grape receiving systems such as crusher/ de-stemmers, pumps and grape presses during vintage
Key Assets
· Able to perform all functions in specialized areas
· Know and follow company “Standard Operating Procedures”
· Record keeping for downtime activity logs, bottling line operator checks, grape receiving work orders
· Working knowledge of all bottling and grape receiving equipment
· Strong understanding of mechanical equipment
· Able to diagnose problems to minimize downtime
Specific Duties
· Harvest (September to December) - Shift work during this season will be required with overtime, including weekends.
· Icewine (December/January) - Shift work during this season will be required with overtime, including weekends.
COMPENSATION: Budgeted Range – $70,000- $90,000
The budgeted range takes into account experience, education, training, and other business/organizational requirements. Base salary is only one compensation component offered at Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery.
