Job purpose:
• To manage, plan, implement & execute all store activities, so as to maintain and develop sales to current and new customer base.
Qualifications:
• Several years experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in a +$3.5 million annual customer facing retail sales environment in the last 5 years (must not be in a relief capacity).
• Experience providing supervision and direction to direct reports.
• Experience managing the assets of a business.
Knowledge of:
• Point of Sale and/or Inventory Management system applications.
Skills/Abilities:
• Strong leadership skills, with an emphasis on managing, training, coaching and mentoring all individuals within a team. Ability to train and develop staff to meet goals and give clear direction on assigned duties and performance expectations.
• Superior analytical abilities with the ability to conceptualize and implement actions.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to changing environments and possess expertise and confidence to lead change.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels within an organization.
• Plan, forecast, report on sales, costs and business performance, according to company requirements.
• Plan and implement retail merchandising, increase product selection, layout and customer traffic so as to maximize sales, customer satisfaction, appearance, image and ergonomics for customers.
• Manage selling and customer service activities and staff competence in these areas, so as to optimize and sustain sales performance, profitability and customer satisfaction.
• Manage costs and overheads, and all factors affecting the profitable performance of the store.
• Liaise with external agencies and authorities as necessary (utility, bank, wineries, breweries, training, fire services, police, local liquor control boards, health and safety inspectors, etc.).
• Liaise with and utilize maximum support from all suppliers, merchandisers and other partners as required.
• Manage, maintain and report as necessary all merchandise and non-merchandise stock.
• Manage upkeep and condition of all equipment, fixtures and fabric of store premises.
• Manage health and safety, security, and emergency systems, capabilities and staff and customer awareness, according to company policy and relevant law.
• Seek and continuously develop wine, beer, and spirits knowledge and information about competitor activity, pricing and tactics.
• Adhere to purchasing policy & inventory control.
• Departmental staff recruitment, development, training and management.
• Administration and reporting as necessary.
• Health and safety compliance.
Salary negotiable on experience
