Niagara Custom Crush Studio is a growing collective of independent wineries producing a broad range of high-quality wines sourced from the most exceptional vineyards in Niagara. The Crush was established in 2022 with a vision of creating a state-of-the-art production facility where independent wineries could come to create some of the finest wines available in Ontario wine country.

Harvest Cellar Hands are responsible for hands-on winemaking assistance during the harvest season. Listed below are all responsibilities:

• Operation of equipment used for processing grapes, juice and wine
• General cellar duties: racking, inoculations, and filtering
• Making additions to juice and wine
• Transferring volumes of juice and wine using pumps, hoses and clamps
• Red wine fermentation management techniques such as pump overs and punch downs
• Cleaning and sterilizing tanks and winery equipment
• Accurately record data and follow standard operating procedures under the guidance of the winemaking team
• Barrel work, including filling, topping, emptying and cleaning
• Assisting in bottling operations
• Collecting samples
• Basic understanding of winemaking equipment such as pumps, destemmers, presses, filters, forklifts, etc.
• Report directly to Assistant Winemaker & Head Winemaker

Qualifications:

• Enrolment in/or completion of a winemaking/viticulture degree or diploma program is an asset
• Previous harvest experience is an asset
• Driver’s license required
• Forklift certification is preferred
• Cellar work experience preferred
• Ability to multitask, work independently and work well with a team
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
• Ability to repeatedly lift heavy items
• Willing to work extended hours or extra days during harvest
• Strong communication skills, positive attitude and attention to detail
• Follows safe work procedures/practices; reports any unsafe working conditions/hazards to assigned Manager on Duty
• Following all WSIB safety requirements
